About Us

beth brown shirt one!Hi,  I am Elizabeth Moose,  LAc,  and I have been practicing acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine full time in Austin since 1992.  I came originally from Northern California after attending the Five Branches Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and earning a degree in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz.  I also did a short stint in China,  living and working in a hospital in Fu Jian province.

In 2002, shortly after my fortieth birthday,  for both personal and professional reasons, I decided to learn the acupuncture facial rejuvenation protocol and add it to my repertoire.  I have performed many of these treatments since then and have also been on the receiving end.  These treatments are fun to do,  and the results I see are gratifying.

I really really love Chinese Medicine:  its elegance,  its theoretical structure and the poetic way the ancient Chinese describe the body and their medicine,  the treatments  (which are my favorite part, they can be especially soothing and relaxing, believe it or not),  the results (of course),  its insight and wisdom,  its simultaneous simplicity and sophistication,   and  its eminent practicality.  It really works.  It addresses body,  mind,  and spirit simultaneously.  It is a natural, healthful way of dealing with our issues and just makes a lot of sense.

I feel really blessed to have made this my career and hopefully I can continue to translate my enthusiasm and long experience into a positive experience for you too.

In addition to my private practice, I spent eleven years as an instructor at the Academy of Oriental Medicine,  Austin,  where I taught the year long Theory and Philosophy course and was a clinical supervisor.  I have also taught lay classes on self-care using the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  (Please ask me about this, I would be happy to teach this for you and your group.)   I am also a painter,  a mosaic-maker,  and have recently taken up the ukelele.

I would love to hear from you and see if I can help you out.
